New earrings available in my shop!

I'm making my sister some earrings for her birthday that's coming up soon, and decided to make a few pairs to sell in my Etsy shop, as well. The beads are semiprecious stone beads, sodalite (darker blue ones) and turquoise (the lighter ones). The golden french hooks are easy to use and the color brings out the green in turquoise.

Today I sold a cloisonne bead bracelet, one of my favorite pieces. Cloisonné is a distinctive art form that was developed in China in the 13th century, and it has grown to be one of China's number one exports. The making of cloisonné requires several processes: hammering, wire inlay, soldering, enamel-filling, enamel-firing, polishing, and gilding. The wire work in Cloisonné beads can be flush with the enamel or it can be raised to create a 3-dimensional look. The wire can also be twisted to add more interest.

Today I got my very first customer! A girl bought a pair of earrings from my shop on Etsy.com! So the pretty green crystal teardrop earrings are ready to find a new home! I was so excited! Packing my very first order to mail it off seems almost unreal. I hope there will be many more of those moments. Tomorrow, I'll mail my order off with pride. Packed nicely and professionally, the earrings are placed in a small ziploc baggie of just the right size for the earrings. They're on a small matching shiny green piece of cardboard, and also in this baggie is my business card with all my info in case the client shall have any questions or wish to further explore what I have to offer. The baggie and the short "thank you for your order" letter that is printed on the stationary that matches to my business card and with my logo up top are placed in a pretty cushion envelope. How cute! I don't know about you, but I know I'd love to get a package like that! ^_^

Better photos (slightly)

So today I found out that my boyfriend's phone takes much better photos than my digital camera. How sad :( but at least, now I have a choice of a better graphic to represent my creations.
I also made a new key chain and listed it in my online store. It has a heart-shaped keyring and a dual soft green tassel with beads hanging off. Perfect as a gift of friendship or love: the two tassels mean two people, the heart-shaped ring is the love that holds them.

Another thing I've come up with is opening up a store at Lov.li, apparently they are famous amongst young people who make and wear handcrafted things.

What do you think about these pieces? Yeah, blurry images, but that is all I can do at the moment. I'll have to borrow my sister's camera and perhaps I will get great photos that way.

The 1st photo shows dangling crystal earrings. Very pretty and ladylike. Eccentric also, I have never seen anything like that anywhere, maybe only in anime. :)

The 2nd photo displays semiprecious stone earrings: sodalite and turquoise beads. The number of beads, the color, the mineral, etc can vary. If a buyer would prefer to have tiger eye earrings with only 4 beads in each instead of 5 - so be it; I will make them accordingly. The buyer will chose the color of the hooks also, I have gold and silver. And since I have more beads than just 10, I can easily make a matching bracelet and/or a necklace to go with the earrings. Like, let's say you know someone who loves a certain type of stone, let's say Amethyst. You know their birthday is right around the corner, and you would like to give them something, but you're not sure what. You could e-mail me stating that you would like earrings with amethyst, but you want 6 beads in each earring because the person who the gift is for loves the number 6. You also would like a bracelet to match, and a necklace. They could include other beads besides the amethyst ones, such as onyx or hematite, and the pendant could be the first letter of person's name, or a butterfly, or a floral something. Depending on your unique needs, I will make precisely what you desire. Consider me your own personal custom jewelry specialist! :)

The beginning of my business

Today I decided to give in and try what many have suggested to me before: sell some of the jewelry I make online. I'm not sure how profitable it will be, I mean, there's so much competition out there. But I see so many hand crafted jewelry pieces being sold online for what seem to be astronomic prices, and can't help but to think to myself: "Wow, I could make these earrings with my eyes closed in a matter of minutes!" So... There I am, trying to photograph my stuff with my crappy old digital camera, using those sad blurry photos to list my jewelry on eBay and Etsy. I suppose we'll see how it goes...

I can do that, too. Just tell me what you want (earrings, bracelet, hair clip, anklet, etc...),
what material you would like me to use (crystal, cloisonne, semiprecious stone, glass beads, ribbon...), specify the number of beads, the color, the type of clasp you prefer, whatever else. I can do it! ^_^
